Sioux Falls Metropolitan Planning Organization
Encourages Area Trucking Representatives
to Submit for Opening on Technical Advisory Committee

Sioux Falls Metropolitan Area, South Dakota: Members of the public who are interested in representing Trucking industry interests are invited to apply for a vacant position on the Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) Technical Advisory Committee (TAC). The MPO directs and oversees all transportation planning and programming activities within the Sioux Falls metropolitan planning area. This includes the cities of Brandon, Crooks, Harrisburg, Hartford, Sioux Falls, and Tea, as well as portions of Lincoln County and Minnehaha County.

The TAC is an important component of transportation planning for the MPO. It is the committee that has been established to advise the policy board (Urbanized Development Commission) on the technical aspects of transportation plans under consideration. In addition, the TAC conducts public meetings on all of the federally required products of the local transportation planning process. The TAC's membership is comprised of staff from the participating units of government as well as representatives from various modes of transportation within the metro area. The TAC meets seven times a year, generally on a bi-monthly basis. Regular attendance at the meetings is required. Meetings are held on Thursdays beginning at 2:00 p.m.

Representatives will be selected by several criteria including the ability to review planning products while considering technical aspects of transportation planning products such as costs, construction phasing, engineering design, and associated issues. “Request to Serve” applications can be downloaded at www.siouxfallsmpo.org/committees/tac or can be requested by contacting Sean Hegyi at sean@secog.org or 605.681.8176. Applications are open until the membership position is filled.
